1/72 Diorama Kit "Italian Village Square" by FCH
1/72 diorama kit, "Italian Village Square". This model is part of an exclusive series of 1/72 scale diorama kits only sold by Full Circle Hobbies, and will enhance any military or architectural art collection. Designed, sculpted, and hand cast in a premium polyurethane resin by company owner David Gurinskas, this diorama kit contains 58 multi - media parts. Included are; 18 resin cast parts, 2 plastic, 2 vacuformed, 5 photo - etched, 4 clear fiber optic, 1 piece of tubing, 6 copper strips, 15 pieces of wire in two different gauges, 1 thin chain, 1 sheet of decals, and 4 felt pads. Also included are; a "Kit Contents" list; a "Preparing Resin Parts For Painting" sheet, "Assembly Instructions" sheets, and instructions for applying decals. The inspiration for this diorama comes from countless photos that I have archived of Italian villages. I wanted to recreate the old - world charm of a typical village square with its buildings in a state of disrepair with lots of different textures to paint. For example, there's 3 different types of cobblestone sections plus a lot of areas on the buildings where old stucco has fallen off revealing the bricks underneath. Old wood, clay tile roofs and other details, also gives the modeler plenty of opportunity for creating lots of different patinas for visual interest.
Many photos of WW1 and WW2 show soldiers and their equipment passing through villages like this one on their way to, or from, the Front. With this diorama, you can create a scene depicting a lull in the fighting as troops relax, or are just passing through. Maybe even add a humorous scene or two. The possibilities are endless.
Features of the diorama include a highly detailed solid resin base with 3 types of paving stones. Cobblestone, fan cobblestone and brick paving stones. Sewer grates and manhole covers are also incorporated into the details of the streets. The base measurements are 6" (15.5 cm) x 8 1/2" (21.7 cm) x 3/8" (1.2 cm) thick and is designed to fit in any standard bookcase or shelf unit. 4 felt pads are included for under the base.
Buildings "A" with stucco and brick construction, is the smallest of the 3 buildings, and measures 2 1/8" (6.7 cm) long x 3/4" (2 cm) thick x 5 5/8" (14.3 cm) tall. 2 separately cast balconies with photo - etched railings are included as well as gutters and downspouts.
Buildings "B" is stucco and brick construction with a market and barber shop, and measures 5 1/4" (13.5 cm) long x 3/4" (2 cm) thick x 5 1/8" (13 cm) high. 1 separately cast balcony with hoist (the other balcony is cast with the building) and 2 photo - etched railings are included, as well as gutters and downspouts. A pulley, hook and chain are included for the hoist over the market, and a vacuformed awning also. A barber pole is included for the barber shop.
Buildings "C" is of stone construction, with a restaurant / bar, and measures 5" (13 cm) long x 3/4" (2 cm) thick x 4 1/8" (10.5 cm) high. 1 separately cast balcony with photo - etched railing is included, plus gutters and downspouts. A small half - round vacuformed awning is also included.
The fountain is cast in 2 parts, base and column, with 4 separate spouts. 4 lengths of fiber optic strands are provided to simulate water coming out of them. Measurements are 1 1/2" (3.8 cm) high x 1 5/8" (4.2 cm) diameter.
Each kit is carefully wrapped in bubble wrap packing material and is placed in a sturdy cardboard box. Shipping box dimensions are 11" (28 cm) x 11" (28 cm) x 5" (13 cm) and weighs 3 lbs. (1.5 kg.).
